The Living Room :: Facelift :: Refinished ceiling, walls, floors. New lighting and tile at the base of the fireplace, and new window treatments.
The Dining Area and Kitchen :: Refinished ceiling, walls, floors. The dining and kitchen used to be separated by a wall (total of 2 walls were demo'd), the result is an open space much more conducive to entertaining and all that jazz. New lighting, paint, backsplash, counters, cabinets, appliances and life!
The Kitchen :: Sink Area :: Love, love, love the apron front sink. Even when there are dirty dishes in it, it still looks good. Pendant lighting is by West Elm. Flush mount lighting is by Restoration Hardware.
The Kitchen :: Prep/Cooking :: The LG range sings when the pre-heating is finished and has a convection oven option and is blue inside (not gray). Can you tell I love it? New countertops are made of quartz, with backsplash 2x4 brick tiles by Daltile and fancy detail tile by someone important but not important enough to remember their names. Yes, the hood above the range is missing - not required by code, so it'll go in another day.
The Stairwell :: Safety first, then beauty! Recall, the stairwell did not have a handrail, the stairs were covered in carpet, the door had a 1" gap at the bottom and didn't lock, and the old transom leaked as it did not have a bottom. Look at it sing now. Who says a stairwell can't be beautiful?
The Fixed Transom :: Designed by yours truly and built by a local artisan.
The Fireplace Tile :: The creme de la creme for the renovation - it inspired the Spanish Inquisition design motif, and the colors, patterns, and design that followed.
The Office :: Once the kiddo's room, now is where the happy homeowner plans to take over the world.
The Master Bedroom :: There's nothing "master" about the size, but I couldn't do anything about that. Instead, I focused on lighting and finishes to make it a warm and relaxing room.
The Bathroom :: Refinished! The joys and wonders discovered in this once adhoc bathroom. (See El Bano posting.) The bathroom has new walls, new shower tile, new flooring tile, and new shower fixtures. Oh, and new plumbing! The tub, toilet, sink, and lighting were reused, but will eventually be replaced as the sink and toilet can be smarter. Yes, smarter.
The Vanity :: Remember the hole left in the old wall by the former homeowners? They had simply put a mirror over it. I capitalized on their laziness and used the space to install a medicine cabinet by Restoration Hardware. It fit perfectly and now the bathroom has better storage. And the lighting worked out perfectly too. I simply flipped the fixture over and now the entire bathroom is lighted properly.

wow, that's incredible!
