Week 3

Reconstruction is in progress. We took a time out today to do an archeological dig in the crawl space. We recovered 2 burlap sacks from Brazil and Canada. The one from Brazil was used to import coffee beans, and then reused by the local Goodwill. My guess is that these were from the 1930s as The Denver Post laying near by was from 1936. Also recovered was the door to the cast iron stove, I think - it also could have been from a gas stove because I found iron grates, and a ton of ashes. So my guess is that the original homeowners dumped the fire ashes into the crawl space since it is adjacent to the original room used for coal storage and heating. And then there is the super mack daddy so freaking cool that it didn't break wooden barrel from Minnesota. It was made for Prosperity laundry detergent. At some point it was used for packing or storage because of the nasty brown moss found in the bottom. Just a guess, but quite possible. The crawl space also contained a small twin bed frame (wood), a window screen frame, a pallet, and bunch of other stuff used as fuel for the fire. Kind of crafty people, burning their trash and heating their home at the same time.
