The 505 Casita :: History

The home was built in 1932 and is situated in the Alamo Placita neighborhood, which I like to call La Placenta. (The reference to birth and rebirth is intended.) Alamo Placita neighbood was established in 1931 and remains a Denver gem. It's just between the Wash Park and Capitol Hill neighborhoods, both boasting sweet parks for running, cycling and general goofing off. It's close to Speer and the Cherry Creek trail, North Cherry Creek shopping district, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, banks and churches. Overall, it would definitely get some LEED points if it were a commercial building. I need to visit Bruce at the downtown Denver Library to do further research on the neighborhood and house itself. My guess is there is a story there.

The home is approximately 950 square feet on the first floor, and 450 finished square feet in the basement. It's a 2 bedroom/1 bath with a lot of promise. The hardwood floors, kitchen, gas fireplace and radiators are all original to the home. (Soon to prove to be a challenge. Just wait.) The exterior is brick with a Spanish tile roof. At one time there were awnings on the facade and east/west walls. Original hardware is still in place. The house is on a corner lot and has a wrap around yard that will get attention in 2012.

Interesting points about the house :: It's sister house is a mirror image, divided by a shared driveway and garage. The water is shared too.
